With the advent of IE 8 being sent out across the globe I thought I’d take a look at how the browser wars are going. I found out some interesting things.
Here’s the method to my madness. I looked at the Google Analytic’s for two sites I designed and developed. I looked at the percentages for each browser for the months of March, April and May and listed the top 10.
Here are a few of the findings.
- IE market share has dropped a small amount overall.
- IE 6 market share seems to have dropped in the US but grown in other areas of the world.
- IE 7 is the dominant browser but has dropped a small amount in the US but a larger amount around the world.
- IE 8 seems to be growing steadily in the US and even more around the world.
- Firefox seems to be maintaining it’s share in the US and possibly grown a bit worldwide.
- Chrome is gaining steadily in the US and at a much larger rate worldwide.
- Opera is on the decline in the US but growing worldwide.
